{"id":446,"date":"2020-03-25T10:46:18","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T10:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.platts.co.uk\/blog\/?p=446"},"modified":"2020-05-18T15:41:27","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T15:41:27","slug":"vehicles-to-be-granted-a-6-month-exemption-from-mot-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.platts.co.uk\/blog\/2020\/03\/25\/vehicles-to-be-granted-a-6-month-exemption-from-mot-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"Vehicles to be granted a 6 month exemption from MOT Testing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A temporary exemption from MOT testing will enable vital services to continue, frontline workers to get to work, and people to get essential food and medicine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vehicle owners will be granted a 6-month exemption from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.platts.co.uk\/mot-test\/\">MOT testing<\/a>, enabling them to continue to travel to work where this absolutely cannot be done from home, or shop for necessities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All cars, vans and motorcycles which usually would require an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.platts.co.uk\/mot-test\/\">MOT test<\/a> will be exempted from needing a test from 30 March 2020. However, vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition and please be aware that drivers can be prosecuted if their vehicle is unsafe to drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you cannot get an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.platts.co.uk\/mot-test\/\">MOT<\/a> that\u2019s due, because you\u2019re in self-isolation, the Department for Transport is working with insurers and the police to ensure people are not unfairly penalised for things that are out of their control. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the current movement restrictions have been lifted we will contact all our customers who&#8217;s vehicle was due an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.platts.co.uk\/mot-test\/\">MOT<\/a> during this period so they can avoid the inevitable rush that will be caused in 6 months time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/coronavirus-covid-19-mots-for-cars-vans-and-motorcycles-due-before-30-march-2020\">What to do if your MOT runs out before 30th March 2020.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A temporary exemption from MOT testing will enable vital services to continue, frontline workers to get to work, and people to get essential food and medicine.
